Built in 1929, this 3,563-seat shrine to Art Deco is undergoing refurbishment (that completed 1998), though the opera season continues. Four times a year, the Lyric Opera Guild offers two-hour tours of the hall. Along the way you see the main stage, prop room, and wig and makeup department. – Stephen M. Silverman
