Hahndorf

Hahndorf: 29km south-east of Adelaide. Historic town which retains the atmosphere of its original German settlers. Very good German restaurants and crafts centers. The Hahndorf Academy displays the works of South Australian artists, notably Sir Hans Heysen, when painted in the area.

Cooktown

Cooktown is situated 158km north of Cairins. This historic town, on the banks of the Endeavour River, served as a port for the nearby goldfields in the 1870s. Rare and abundant native flora flourish in the area and Endeavor National Park nearby has excellent examples of Aboriginal rock art. Accessible by road.
