Cooktown

Cooktown is situated 158km north of Cairins. This historic town, on the banks of the Endeavour River, served as a port for the nearby goldfields in the 1870s. Rare and abundant native flora flourish in the area and Endeavor National Park nearby has excellent examples of Aboriginal rock art. Accessible by road.

The Goldfields

The Goldfields is found in the Kalgoorlie, about 600km of east of Perth, centre of the state’s gold mining industry since the 1890s. You can visit the old Hainault mine. Nearby are ghost towns such as Coogardie, Gwalia and Broad Arrow. Kalgoorlie is on the India-Pacific railway line.
