Berkeley

The 1867 Church of the Covenant at the corner also houses Gallery Naga, a good first stop for what could be a full day of just gallery hopping—pick up a brochure listing all the galleries here. Across the street, the very secular Louis, Boston (234 Berkeley St.), purveyor of exquisite and exquisitely priced clothes, sits back from the street in the 1830 original home of the Museum of Natural History. Eurochic clothing reigns in Divino and Martini Clam. Laura Asheley wearable may look dowdy in comparison. A fashionable crowd frequents the wrought-iron tables outside Mirabelle; a familial crown visits the home of the New England Historic Genealogical Society. Even if you don’t drop ink, you can admire its pretty pocket garden—the first of many such oases to come.
