Kuranda

Kuranda: 50km west of Cairns. A picturesque village set in lush rainforest on the edge of the Atherton Tableland. Once a mining centre, it is now a center for arts, crafts and Aboriginal culture. The famous Tjapukal dance troupe performs. A regular tourist train from Cairns provides spectacular views of tropical scenery from lovely old carriages with rear platforms. Also accessible by road.
